    An expert in organizational whistleblowing management, Jan is engaged in the development of the new ISO 37002 Standard, is a frequent speaker on subjects related to whistleblowing, and has authored various articles on new legislation concerning whistleblower protection, anti-corruption, and organizational whistleblowing best practices. Jan is CIPP/E is an International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/E). He holds a Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) from King’s College London in the United Kingdom (EU Competition Law) and a master’s degree (LL.M) from Leiden University in the Netherlands (European Law).

    Jan was recently accepted as a member into The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe’s (UNECE) “Working Party on Regulatory Cooperation and Standardization Policies.” This working party is broken into six parts and Jan is a member of the Group of Experts on Risk Management in Regulatory Systems.

    Gareth was the Labour & Co-operative Party Member of Parliament from 2017 to 2019 and was re-elected in July 2024 for the constituency of Stoke-on-Trent Central.

    Brought up in Suffolk, he moved to Staffordshire to attend Keele University graduating in 2008 after studying History and Politics. Gareth served as President of the Students’ Union and founded Keele Labour Students.

    After University he made his home in Newcastle-under-Lyme and was elected to Newcastle Borough Council in 2010 and the Council Leader in 2012.

    Having work for UNISON and in campaign roles for the Labour Party, he has particular interest in Local Government, Trade Union Rights and Local Community Cohesion.

    Gareth is the Chair of the APPG for Whistleblowers.

With over eight years of experience advocating for whistleblower protections, Georgina has been instrumental in shaping policies that safeguard those who speak out against wrongdoing. She has played a key role in driving the development of the Office of the Whistleblower, aimed at providing protection, sanctions for abusers, and education on whistleblower rights.
