According to the regulation’s website, GDPR “applies to all companies processing and holding the personal data of data subjects residing in the European Union (EU), regardless of the company’s location.” That means if your company holds personal data on people who live in the EU, regardless of headquarters or subsidiaries, you must be in compliance with GDPR. The penalty for noncompliance is severe - up to four percent of annual global turnover (or 20 million euros), whichever is greater.
